Resistance of Untreated and Torrefied Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF) Residues to Xylophage Fungi

چکیده

The manufacture of wood panels generates a large amount waste. This material can be an option for renewable energy generation. However, long-term storage, exposure to moisture and contact these with the soil facilitate colonization by xylophagous organisms. Torrefaction, heat treatment between 200 300 °C in oxygen-free atmosphere, is process that decreases hygroscopicity while increasing carbon content, efficiency resistance fungal attack. work aimed evaluate MDF panel residues. were produced using eucalyptus bonded thermosetting synthetic resin, under high temperature pressure, torrefied at 20, 30 40 min exposed fungi white rot, Irpex lacteus (Fr.) Fr. (1828) Trametes versicolor, brown Postia placenta. After 12-week evaluation period exposure, mass loss samples attacked T. versicolor P. placenta was similar treatments, except untreated, which had greater losses from fungus lacteus. torrefaction increased deterioration fungi, inverse correlation attack

Medium Density Fiberboard (mdf) Manufacturing

In this study wheat straw was taken from Ankara province. In order to produce dry process MDF, urea formaldehyde resin was used at the ratio of 8 %, 10 % and 12 %, 1 % ammonium chloride was used as hardening agent on the basis of dry fiber weight. On the other hand, 5, 6 and 7 min. pressing times were applied. Alcohol benzene, cold water, hot water and 1 % NaOH solubility of wheat straw were 5....

Hot-pressing process modeling for medium density fiberboard (MDF)

In this paper we present a numerical solution for the mathematical modeling of the hot-pressing process applied to medium density fiberboard. The model is based in the work of Humphrey [1982], Humphrey and Bolton [1989] and Carvalho and Costa [1998], with some modifications and extensions in order to take into account mainly the convective effects on the phase change term and also a conservativ...

Hypersensitivity pneumonitis related to medium-density fiberboard.

Pneumonitis due to hypersensitivity to wood fiber is mainly associated with the fungus that colonizes it. We present the case of a male affected with hypersensitivity pneumonitis in which the agent implicated was medium-density fiberboard, an engineered product whose main component is pine wood fiber. The causal agent was identified by means of a specific bronchial provocation test.
